It’s been non-stop, cray-cray busy this holiday season. With family coming, house cleaning and organizing, baking, party-going, shopping, wrapping, errand-ing, it’s been a complete whirlwind. But we still managed to get some of these cute pom pom ornaments done for our tree, which looked great […]

For my daughter’s final bake sale of the school year, I had wild ambitions to make fancy cookies, lemon brownies and gooey sprinkled rice Krispy squares. Of course — In brown paper packages all tied up with string… But as it always seems, the night before, we fell short of ingredients for everything! And who wants to make another trip to the store?! So I thought, as my daughter and I have been making tons of necklaces, why not keep going? We had all the ingredients after all. (It’s basically one ingredient not counting the string) And came up with these.
We used 365 Brand, Rainbow O’s cereal. Made with organic wheat, corn and sugar and with no artificial food coloring.

The only other thing we needed was string. Which we always have on hand.
And with clean hands, my daughter and I sat and beaded O’s after O’s onto colorful string. We made sure they were long enough to fit over the head and tied a little knot at the end.
We then packaged them up into little clear treat bags. (I find everything looks better in a clear treat bag.) I also found these plain stickers to seal them up. We used to make these when Els was smaller for fun, but never thought of packaging them up like this. They turned out super cute! And it was a big hit, I think!
Els got super excited when she spotted a kid wearing one and munching away.
I know technically, it’s not baking, but I thought it was a cute alternative! And I think they were pretty much all sold out! Yay.
Here’s Els wearing her very own.
