Easy, Accessible and Effective Way to Organize Kids Arts and Crafts to Get your Kids Creative

This past summer, I made sure to have a variety of cool, colorful and fun art supplies to carry us through the break. A lot of the stuff I found on sale and hoarded it into my closet until vacay started. Similar to my previous […]

Back to School: Healthy Bento Lunchbox Series

A friend of mine once told me, when you have kids, it will feel like long days, but short years. And it’s so true. I can’t believe my little one is already in first grade. Summer has already come and gone again. And it’s already […]

Painting Flower Rocks with Paint Markers

Painting Flower Rocks with Paint Markers

I wish I was a crazy plant lady, with a crazy talented green thumb. Flowers and plants everywhere. But I’m not. I have a hard enough time keeping my succulents alive. A couple of years ago, I created a mini garden for my then toddler and thought that was a feat in itself. But this year, I thought, why not have some fun and ‘fake it till we make it,’ if you will.

I found these Oil Based Paint Sharpie Markers, and thought my daughter and I could paint our own flowers onto all our rocks we already had strewn around our front patio/garden.

We’ve painted rocks before with acrylic paint and brushes like our fun Halloween rocks, but these markers were way easier to use. More precise. And so vibrant.

All we had to do was wash the rocks with water. Let dry. And begin painting. So easy.

Aren’t they kinda cute?

We made so many together this summer. We will definitely be scattering these around our garden to take us all the way through fall/winter — carrying all of our summer memories with it….

Fun Rainbow O’s Edible Necklaces for Kids

For my daughter’s final bake sale of the school year, I had wild ambitions to make fancy cookies, lemon brownies and gooey sprinkled rice Krispy squares. Of course — In brown paper packages all tied up with string… But as it always seems, the night before, we fell short […]

Summer Fruit Bead Necklaces

Summer Fruit Bead Necklaces

My daughter and I, have certain rituals before bedtime. As most people do. Besides the usual, no more snacks, ya should have eaten your dinner, go brush teeth, go brush teeth, go BRUSH TEETH,  put on your pajamas, pajamas, PA–! Get in bed, I said – BED…!  We do eventually get to the reading stories, giggling, cuddling and  talking about our day… Somedays we even bust out our pencil crayons and color together in those relaxing color therapy books.  But lately, we started a new thing where we like to make necklaces and bracelets with beads and string. It’s actually really calming and a peaceful activity before bedtime. And a special bonding moment, also.

Since we were quickly running out of beads, I searched online and came across these colorful fruit beads. I thought they would make the cutest summery little necklaces.

I already had some string on hand.

And my daughter and I, lay on the bed and beaded necklaces together every night before bedtime.

I tied a knot at the end of each last bead so it can’t move, and on each end of the string to make it adjustable. Click here to see how I did it on another one of my necklace posts.

We actually ended up liking them so much we decided to package them up for my daughter’s annual school fundraiser at school.

I just bought some clear goody bags, and blank stickers, and packaged them up. So cute.

Healthy Unicorn Snack with NO Food Coloring for Kids

Healthy Unicorn Snack with NO Food Coloring for Kids

Like probably every 6 year old out there, my daughter is obsessed with Unicorns. She uses up all her eyelash, birthday, penny-in-fountain and tooth fairy wishes for a real live unicorn, every single time. Seems like the rest of the world is just as obsessed. […]
