Build Me a Birdhouse
In my youth, there was nothing more alluring to me than those ‘surprise’ paper grab bags at the candy store. No matter how disappointed I was after opening them, finding nothing but a cheap piece of plastic for a toy and a couple of stale gum balls, I kept going back for more. Like, maybe, just maybe, there would be something different and exciting this time. It was the unknown, the perhaps, the possibility of something great that kept me coming back for more.
Unfortunately, that day never came. It was always a variation of the same.
But what better way to overcompensate, than to make my own!
Memorial Day Bird House fun kits!
(For my little one and her favorite friend. For our memorial day BBQ get-together).
Colorful. Fun. Crafty. Creative. Tasty. And Useful. Much better than stale gum balls right?
I put red, white and blue paint into little paint saver containers and packaged them into little plastic bags with a ribbon. And included a tiny paint palette for easy pour and use.
Also included some shiny star gems.
Some festive beaded necklaces. Cheesy popcorn for munching. And a 99 cent wooden bird house.
Can’t forget the sunflower seeds for the birds.
All inside a reusable stars and stripes tin can.
Here’s Els sporting her necklaces and getting into it…
Her friend’s work-in-progress masterpiece. She’s a few years older and loved the craft. And the gems actually stuck right onto the paint. No need for glue.
And here are the finished products hanging from our trees.
They were so proud of their work. And it occupied them for a good 1/2 hour at least.
Red + White + Blue = Purple! (Els’ favorite color.)
Will let you know if anyone moves in!
